Eagles of Death Metal and the Paris Attacks

16 Νοε 2015

Eagles of Death Metal is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, formed in 1998 by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, who are the only permanent members of the band, though Homme rarely plays live shows because of commitments to other bands.

The Eagles of Death Metal were on stage at Le Bataclan during the November 2015 Paris attacks. Press reports say that while the death toll inside the venue was 87, the band members made it safely out of the venue via a door in back of the stage.
On November 13, 2015, the band was playing a sold-out concert at Le Bataclan theatre in Paris, when an armed attack on the theater occurred in which a number of people were killed and wounded. According to reports, the attackers shot randomly into the crowd, and started to throw explosives once the police arrived. At least two attackers were killed by the police, and at least 100 civilians were killed.
Jesse Hughes escaped via the backstage, and the rest of the band survived the attack. However, Nick Alexander, who worked Eagles of Death Metal's merchandise table during the group's European tour, was among the 118 people killed in the terror attack. He was 36 years old.
